What elements or traits does a great leader exhibit?
A great leader respects those that look to them for guidance. They understand that they are in a power and influence position and make the best decisions to deploy that for good.
When you think of great leadership, who comes to mind? Why?
I don’t think of just one person when I think of outstanding leadership. Throughout my life, I have come across different types of leaders. Anyone can have a dream or a vision, but not everyone has the talent, strength, and perseverance to run on it. A leader is someone who takes initiative and executes their vision into reality. That is one way you can define a true leader.
How has your personal leadership style evolved?
Through my productions and professional growth, my work style has evolved tremendously. Patience and positivity are my two key traits when leading. Leading with grace and an optimistic attitude is how I always lead.
What is it about your background or career experiences that successfully positioned you for your role at Noodle? Describe that role.
Creating and leading initiatives from the ground up helped successfully position me for my role here at noodle. In my previous position, I worked as the Marketing Director at Greater Jamaica Development Corporation for nine years. I expanded GJDC’s brand reach and impacted through multi-channel marketing strategies. I established online platforms, launched new initiatives, and curated open public spaces. Also while I was there, I worked with entities as diverse and impactful as The New York City Department of Transportation, Resorts World International, American Airlines, and many others. I forged, nurtured, and strengthened these partnerships to build programs and policies that helped put the organization on the map. For example, with the NYC Department of Transportation, I could bridge the gap between the community and businesses by establishing a public marketplace that became a staple of the community.
How do you support the success of your team?
As the Recruit Product Manager, my role is essential to researching, evaluating, and deploying new features, products, and services within the Noodle ecosystem. I am responsible for managing the vendor selection process, gathering business requirements from Noodle team members across the company, and leading the onboarding and support of the vendor relationship. My role is key in selecting the right vendor, product, and university partners to launch into the market. I also play an integral role in the successful deployment of new features and products used to optimize Noodle’s marketing and enrollment services.
Describe how your career has been enhanced by exposure to diverse people, places, or experiences.
I always say your experiences and surroundings shape who you are. Through my education, job opportunities and communities I have connected with many people. Every person I connect with has taught me lessons or became a resource to me in one way or another.
What are some of the most effective tools in your leadership arsenal?
Kindness, transparency, and an optimistic approach are the most effective tools within my leadership arsenal. I lead with reassurance and a positive light to get things done.
