What elements or traits does a great leader exhibit?
I believe a great leader is a person who listens, is adaptable and can elevate a team dynamic.
When you think of great leadership, who comes to mind? Why?
Simon Bolivar. He led a multinational revolution against the Spanish and freed several Latin American countries, including Colombia. A lot of lessons can be learned about leadership not only from him, but from the people in his corner as well.
How has your personal leadership style evolved?
My leadership style has become less to do with utilizing a focal point style leadership and has turned more to leading by example. I try my best to listen and adapt and inspire others.
What is it about your background or career experiences that successfully positioned you for your role at Noodle? Describe that role.
I worked at a summer camp for years and during this time I learned a lot of valuable leadership skills. After that, I worked as a high school college counselor where I was able to sharpen those previous skills I learned. I have been able to develop my skills in adapting to delivering successfully to people from various backgrounds, which led me to my role here at Noodle. I think without having previous counseling experience, this job would have been a lot more challenging!
How do you support the success of your team?
As a senior member on my team I help my team succeed by providing them with support, answering any questions and providing them with practices to be more efficient. I try to ask questions to see what works best for everyone and then come up with my own methods to help everyone.
Describe how your career has been enhanced by exposure to diverse people, places or experiences.
Being from NYC, I have learned a lot of things from hundreds of different cultures. Being exposed to such a wide variety of experiences has allowed me to see the world through different perspectives and showed me how important it is to listen to others.
What are some of the most effective tools in your leadership arsenal?
I would definitely say the ability to listen. I will always consider intentional listening to others as a great leadership skill. From there, being able to think and come up with a plan.
