General Assembly, a pioneer in outcomes-driven technology and data bootcamps, and Noodle Partners, the fastest growing online higher education provider, are partnering with the University of Virginia’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) to offer bootcamps that prepare adult learners for in-demand technology jobs.
“As part of the university’s new strategic plan, SCPS is building programs for working adults where learning leads to opportunity,” says Alex Hernandez, the dean of UVA’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. “General Assembly’s focus on teaching the most in-demand skills with powerful career tracking and job placement makes them a natural partner for us to advance people’s careers.”
General Assembly’s first university partnership brings together a high-quality bootcamp provider and one of the nation’s leading flagship public universities.
“Adults are returning to college because they’re looking for better job opportunities. This initiative draws on our deep understanding of the skills employers need today,” General Assembly CEO Jake Schwartz said. “The program is at the same accelerated pace as our immersive programs, but by embedding it in a university ecosystem, students have a more enriching experience and a wider range of potential outcomes.”
UVA, in partnership with General Assembly, will initially offer 24-week, part-time programs in Software Engineering and Data Science in the Northern Virginia–DC region. The programs are taught by industry practitioners and emphasize relevant technology skills, job search, and placement. Over 92% of General Assembly graduates who participate in their career services program secure employment within six months of course completion.
UVA and General Assembly will work with Noodle Partners to expand the partnership and offer programs throughout the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“We are training a generation of data and tech-driven thinkers, entrepreneurs, and workers,” says Noodle Partners CEO John Katzman. “We want to increase access to the incredible career opportunities expanding across Virginia.”
