Alyssa Rodriguez is Enrollment Coordinator at Noodle. Originally from Rialto, California, she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from California State University-San Bernardino. Alyssa recalls education being valued at an early age because her mother made it a high priority for her. She even remembers helping out her classmates in elementary school with their assignments which she shares is a pride point for her—being able to teach others. Alyssa originally studied to become an elementary school teacher prior to joining Noodle and even though she isn’t in a classroom she’s still proud to contribute to the field of higher education. Now here at Noodle she supports her team by being their biggest cheerleader and collaborating with others for great learning opportunities.
A great leader exhibits empathy, respect and courage.
When I think of great leadership in my life I think of my Children's Ministry Coordinator when I was a Sunday School teacher at the age of 16. She was incredibly kind, caring and empathetic to everyone she encountered. I admired those traits in her and tried to follow in her example.
I believe my leadership style has evolved in the sense that I now try my best to see other people’s perspectives and meet them with genuine empathy and understanding.
Before joining Noodle I worked as a Substitute Teacher for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. One aspect of my role here at Noodle is to collaborate with Learning & Development to build resources and lead training sessions. For instance, after hosting a training I was given the feedback of “you’re a good teacher” and I attribute that to my previous work and academic experience.
I like to think I am my team’s biggest cheerleader. I truly care for and respect the people I work with daily. I try my best to champion my colleagues because positive morale leads to success.
Working remotely here at Noodle I understand my colleagues are from different states, countries, ethnicity, cultures, and backgrounds. This has taught me to respect, value and appreciate people from all walks of life.
I would say one effective tool in my arsenal is to embody Noodle’s Core Value of “Never Stop Learning.” There is always more to learn professionally and personally.
People are often surprised to learn that I have two daughters, one in heaven and one that I am raising. You may occasionally hear my two year old daughter in the background of zoom meetings saying “good morning.” Being a mother is what I am most proud of and most dedicated to.
