Ben Vinson III

Ben Vinson III is an historian who has held prominent academic leadership roles, including Dean of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University, Provost of Case Western Reserve University, and most recently the 18th President of Howard University. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of the National Humanities Center and as President of the American Historical Association. His scholarly work focuses on the African presence in colonial Mexico, and his book Before Mestizaje won the 2019 Howard Cline Book Prize from the Latin American Studies Association. His most recent book, AI and Higher Education, explores the profound transformation artificial intelligence is unleashing across global universities. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
