The online Master of Studies in Law (MSL) in Data and Privacy Law is Cardozo’s first program with Noodle Partners

April 29, 2019

NEW YORK (PRWEB) APRIL 29, 2019

The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University (Cardozo) is pleased to announce the launch of an online Master of Studies in Law (MSL) in Data and Privacy Law, its first program in partnership with Noodle Partners. The MSL in Data and Privacy Law is a unique program for non-lawyers whose careers require an understanding of the evolving laws and standards that govern the collection, use and protection of sensitive data. Just 15 other law schools nationwide offer an MSL program, and Cardozo is one of the first to focus specifically on data and privacy. The program provides powerful tools for data and information security professionals, small business owners, and tech startup entrepreneurs who are looking to lead their companies in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.

Cardozo is an innovative trailblazer, renowned in the legal education world for creating the Innocence Project, which works to exonerate the wrongly convicted and advocates for radical changes in the criminal justice system. Cardozo is a leader in applying the law to new and rapidly changing technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency. With this new MSL program, Cardozo will provide non-lawyers in data-intensive fields with the expertise to create policies and ensure compliance in the digital age.

The program uses “Law for All” as its tagline because the school believes that legal knowledge is beneficial not just for lawyers, but for all, including those who make real-time business decisions that have significant legal ramifications. The MSL program is part of the Cardozo Data Law Initiative, led by Professor Felix Wu, a leading scholar of data and privacy law, who holds a JD and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

“Laws and regulations form the backdrop for a lot of the work that non-lawyers do, particularly around managing data,” said Felix Wu. “Understanding those laws will help people be more effective in their careers. This type of knowledge is incredibly empowering, and that’s what our MSL program has to offer.”

Cardozo ranks #1 in Dispute Resolution and #2 in Intellectual Property in NYC. The program will feature some of Cardozo’s top expert faculty alongside best-in-class online learning modules, heavily emphasizing innovative online pedagogy.

“We are incredibly proud to work with Cardozo because of its propensity for innovation and deep concern for its community, society, social justice, and the law,” said John Katzman, CEO of Noodle Partners. “Cardozo wants to be a leader in non-JD legal education to ultimately bring its faculty expertise to teach the law to everyone. I think that’s a very honorable goal and a critical benefit of online learning.”
